Aged Care

Kineo Courses and the new Aged Care Quality Standards 2019

The purpose of the Aged Care Quality Standards is to ensure the professional care and quality standards of support for our elderly. These standards will help to redefine responsibilities and enhance an individualised care approach for leaders and workers directly operating in an Aged Care Provider facility. Kineo supports the Aged Care Quality Standards with it’s elearning course framework that maps to the Aged Care Quality Standards requirements, offering a solid foundation as part of a broader professional development programme.

What are the Aged Care Quality Standards?

From the 1st July 2019, all organisations providing Aged Care services in Australia are required to be compliant with the new Aged Care Quality Standards. Developed by the Department of Health in collaboration with consumers, carers, Aged Care providers, Aged Care workers, clinicians and other experts, the Aged Care Quality Standards provide an opportunity for organisations to review their clinical care practices and capability frameworks.

The standards consist of 8 categories and are pertinent to the person receiving the care, organisation and the requirements of the provider.

  1. Consumer dignity and choice
  2. Ongoing assessment and planning with consumers
  3. Personal care and clinical care
  4. Services and supports for daily living
  5. Organisation’s service environment
  6. Feedback and complaints
  7. Human resources
  8. Organisational governance
